Do not try this alone!

Our firm assists newly-weds and long-time married couples adjust status to lawful permanent resident green card status, or consular process outside of the country.

Adjustment of status is the process that you can use to apply for lawful permanent resident status (“Green Card”) when you are present in the United States. This means that you may get a Green Card without having to return to your home country to complete visa processing.

Another method of obtaining a green card for those married to a U.S. citizen spouse is what is referred to as consular processing. When the spouse seeking a green card lives and applies from abroad, it involves officers at U.S. consulates and embassies.

AthletesTop athletes may have various visa options available to them, depending on the individual goals and experience of the athlete.

For example, the P-1 visa is specifically designed for internationally recognized athletes and entertainment groups coming to the United States to perform. The P-1 visa requires that the athlete has a high level of achievement and recognition in their sport, as demonstrated by their recognition in national or international competitions, or their inclusion on national teams. The athlete’s U.S. employer or sponsoring organization must provide supporting evidence and documentation of the athlete’s qualifications. The P-1 visa is granted for up to five years and can be extended if necessary.

P-1S Support Personnel (Coaches/Managers/Referees/Trainees)The P-1S visa category is available to Essential Support Personnel who are accompanying the P-1 athlete or team and who are an “integral” part of the athlete’s or team’s event(s) or performance.  Coaches, managers, referees, and trainers may be eligible for the P-1S if they can show that they have skills that are critical and essential to the P-1 athlete or team.

Another option is the O-1 visa category which allows individuals with Extraordinary Ability in athletics to come to the U.S. to participate or compete in events that are in the area of extraordinary ability. This visa is not available to sports teams unless each member of the team individually qualifies.
